Caramel Sticky Buns with Dried Figs

With the help of store bought dough these sticky confections come together in a little over 30 minutes.  Sweet, soft and buttery and the nuts on top adds the perfect crunch.  The fig adds another dimension of sweetness that tastes delicious with the caramel topping!

Ingredients:

Buns:

1 lb store bought bread dough
1 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup dried figs, chopped
3 tbl butter, melted

Topping:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbl light corn syrup
1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Melt 1/4 butter and pour into 8 inch round pan.  Sprinkle in 1/4 cup brown sugar and corn syrup and mix well in pan.  Sprinkle in pecans or walnuts.
  2. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl.  In another small bowl mix sugar and cinnamon.  Roll out bread dough into a 10x15 rectangle.  Brush melted butter over the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon & sugar.  Arrange chopped figs over the dough as evenly as you can.  Start to roll the dough beginning at the long end until dough is rolled tight.
  3. Cut the dough into 12 even rolls and place them into the prepared pan.  They will fit snuggly and sides will touch.
  4. Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown.  Allow to cool 2 minutes.  Turn pan upside down onto serving plate and allow pan to rest for about a minute so the buns separate from the bottom.  Gently remove pan and serve warm!
