I wanted to make shamrock cookies but I was out of luck in trying to find a shamrock cookie cutter (guess I waited too long and they were all sold out)! Here's a way to make shamrocks with heart shaped cutters!
- Sugar cookie dough
- Small heart cookie cutters
Prepare the dough using your favorite recipe or use the link to my favorite above. If you use the one above the only change would be to let the dough refrigerate for 2 hours. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Begin cutting hearts and place them onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Arrange 3 hearts so the bottom tips are touching...and there's your shamrock! With the dough remnants, cut out small stems and place in the bottom center of the shamrock. Bake at 375 for 8 - 10 minutes and decorate.
