Peppermint Cocoa in a Jar

I love to give food as gifts.  You know it won't go to waste, it adds a personal touch and lets face it.....it's cheap.  This is cocoa with a little flair with the addition of peppermint candy and what makes this a great gift is that it will last in the pantry.  Unlike giving other goodies this is something that will last all winter long!  This pairs soooo good with my homemade Peppermint Schnapps (which also is a great gift to give )!

You'll Need
  • Mason Jars or other jar with secure lid
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
This mix will fill a 1 quart jar and will serve 12.  Layer all ingredients evenly in the jar.  Place a label on the jar with instructions to mix the contents of the jar in a bowl.  Place 1/3 cup  of cocoa mix in a mug and stir in boiling water.  If desired, serve with my delicious peppermint schnapps for a little night cap!

  1. Sorry for the confusion.....this mix will fill a 1 quart jar and (4) 8 oz mason jars. If you'd like to separate out into the 8 oz jars simply layer 1/4 cup of the powdered milk, sugar and cocoa and 1/8 cup of the chocolate chips and peppermint candy per jar.
