Old Fashioned Beef Stew

This is an old time favorite that is so comforting on cool days.  Throw all the ingredients in your crock pot and curl up on the sofa while the stew slow cooks :)

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs stew beef
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 2 ribs of celery, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
  • 2 potatoes, chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbl worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • dash of ground cloves
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup flour
Place the meat into the slow cooker.  In a small bowl mix the flour with salt, pepper, cloves and paprika.  Sprinkle flour mixture over the meat and coat the meat evenly.  Add in remaining ingredients and cook on low for at least 8 hours or high for 4 - 6 hours.
