Apple Pie Bars

These bars are just like the real think except you can eat them without a fork and plate (which makes them even more dangerous)!  Using store bought pie crust is a real time saver....and I bet no one will ever guess it's not homemade :)

Ingredients:

  • 2 unbaked store bought pie crusts
  • 6 cups chopped apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Roll out pie crust one at a time on a floured surface into approximately a 13x9 rectangle.  Press into a 13x9 baking dish trying to cover the bottom as evenly as possible (this doesn't have to be perfect).  In a large bowl mix all ingredients together until apples are covered evenly.  Pour apple mixture over pie crust.  Cover with remaining rolled out pie crust and gently tuck into the sides.  Bake for 50 minutes or until top is golden brown.  Allow to cool and cut into bars.  Serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a drizzle of caramel sauce!
