Ingredients:

  • 3 cups milk
  • 8 eggs, or 2 cups Egg Beaters
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 10 (1 inch) slices day old bread, cubed
  • 4 apples, peeled and chopped

  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbl butter
  • confectioners sugar
Place cubed bread, apples and raisins in buttered 13 x 9 baking dish making sure raisins and apples are distributed evenly.  Mix milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and pour cubed bread.  Gently press mixture to be sure the bread is coated with the egg mixture.  Place small pats of butter evenly over the top.  Cover and chill for 8 hours or overnight.  Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Dust with confectioners sugar when serving :)
